I am so honoured to have been appointed High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire and for sure, one of the highlights of my year is the celebration of Her Majesty the Queens Platinum Jubilee...
The Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend was really memorable, with so many special events taking place and I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did …but it is not over ….I am so thrilled that we are able to provide you all with, what promises to be, the very best Midsummer Spectacular Concert ever.
Fast forward to the last concert in 2008 when nearly 4,000 attended and hopefully this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever before – and the perfect way to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Of course, in that time much has happened, not least the significant increase in costs associated with staging these types of events, which is why we were relying on the good folk of the East Riding and beyond, to show their support and make it a runaway success and you have not let us down.
I am not often lost for words, those of you who know me well will no doubt be smiling…. but the support that we have received is quite unbelievable, certainly beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you seems so inadequate….. indeed, I cannot thank our sponsors enough.
I am thrilled to be able to tell you that before the concert starts, we are in the enviable position to already be financially supporting our chosen charities, The Tribune Trust, WISHH Charity (Working Independently to support Hull Hospitals), the Driffield Agricultural Society and The East Riding Committee of Macmillan Cancer Support which is truly amazing.
I want to say a huge thanks, for your good wishes and words of encouragement. For those of you who have already purchased tickets, I can’t wait to see you ……for those of you who are thinking about buying them, I promise you an amazing evening, it’s going to be an absolute cracker and you will be helping us support the four extremely worthy Yorkshire based charities, who will make great use of every single penny raised.
I don’t know about you, but I cannot believe where time is flying to, it is so hard to believe that after over a year of planning that the Concert is almost here and I can tell you, I am very excited.
Time is running out and I really hope that you are making plans to join us at the concert or how about buying tickets as birthday presents for family and friends. We all have that person (or persons!) who we spend hours thinking ’what on earth can I buy them?’ perhaps this is your answer – a lovely present that also helps our amazing charities too.
Finally, just a request, If there is anyone out there who might be able to offer help, as a volunteer at the event or with a donation of prizes for our tombola, please do get in touch with me either on 07860 111246 or at [email protected].
I am so thrilled to be able to help these charities in my year as your High Sheriff and also to provide our amazing community, indeed all those who will attend the concert from further afield, with an event which I am sure will give everyone an evening to remember, it’s what you all deserve.
